Iran reacts to Trump’s decision
The United States President Donald Trump announced on Tuesday that Washington is withdrawing from the nuclear agreement signed in 2015 with Iran and restored "to the highest level" and immediately sanctions against the regime. Reactions did not last to appear. With this decision, the president has fractured the West and has opened an era of instability in the Middle East.
The most conservative wing of the Iranian regime has raised its voice after the US withdrawal yesterday from the nuclear pact signed in 2015. The Iranian supreme leader, Ali Khamenei, a reference both inside and outside the country for the Shia community, has described as "silly" and superficial" the speech offered this Tuesday by the American president, Donald Trump, responsible for the rupture of the agreement. "You heard last night that the president of the United States made silly and superficial comments," Khamenei said this morning, according to his official website. "He had maybe more than 10 lies in his comments. He threatened the regime and the people, saying you're doing this and that, continued the leader as he prepared to say its most terrifying phrase: "Mr. Trump I tell you on behalf of the Iranian people: You've made a mistake."
Truth be told, no matter the efforts of influential international leaders, represented in the kisses and hugs from the French President, and the most recent exchange with German Merkel, Trump has vowed to end all the legacy of Barack Obama, and the world is uncertain again.
The words of Khamenei, the highest authority in the country, are in line with the position expressed by Iranian General Mohammad Ali Jafari, in charge of the Guardians of the Revolution, a police-military power with great influence in the economic sphere. Ali Jafari said Wednesday that Europe's ties with Washington will not allow it to act on its own. "It is clear," Ali Jafari told the Iranian agency Fars," that Europeans cannot decide independently between Iran and the US and that they are allied with the US." "The fate of the Iranian agreement is clear," he said.
Trump has said as “excuse” that Iran had nonstop to develop its nuke program: "We have definitive proof that this Iranian promise was a lie." His Iranian counterpart fired back with defiant attitude: "I have ordered Atomic Energy Organization of Iran to be ready to start the enrichment of uranium at industrial levels. We will wait a few weeks and speak with our allies and friends and those committed to JCPOA. All depends on our national interests."
Thus far, EU officials have expressed they'll do what they can to rescue the agreement. But Iranian top leaders are not that confident. Some of the most hardline representatives lit a paper US flag on fire and shouted, "Death to America!" in parliament on Wednesday after the news from the USA came. As if it was not enough, Ali Khamenei had pronounced words that could make anyone fear: “Wait and see the day when Trump is dead, and his corpse is being eaten by snakes and ants, but the Islamic Republic is safe and sound and more powerful than ever." The era of wars has not ended yet.
